  • Movie Review: Snoop Dogg’s — excuse us, Snoop Lion’s — “Reincarnated”

As mentioned in the title above “Reincarnated” is a film that tells the story of — what else — the reincarnation of Rap Super Star Snoop Dogg. Directed by newcomer Andy Capper, “Reincarnated” can easily be called a blatant self promotional film preceding the films subject, Snoop Dogg’s,  new album release.  And it is. But that does not make the film any less enjoyable or interesting to watch.

We, the audience, follow Snoop on a spiritual journey of sorts. He heads to Jamaica to learn more [...]

  • Movie Review: “Snow White and the Huntsman”

Movie Review: “Snow White and the Huntsman”

I had some reservations about Snow White and the Huntsman, mainly due to Kristen Stewart’s questionable acting ability and that this is director Rupert Sanders’ first go around as a feature film director, but I have to admit right away – I am impressed.

By now most of us are familiar with the famous spin-offs of the Brothers Grimm story Snow White — most notably, Walt Disney’s Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937). Screen story-writer, Evan Daugherty, along with screenplay writers, [...]

Movie Review: “Moonrise Kingdom” Wes Anderson at his best

Following the (very loud) buzz from Cannes, where Wes Anderson’s (Fantastic Mr. Fox, Rushmore) Moonrise Kingdom screened as the opening night’s film, I have to admit, that while I am a fan of his work, I was a bit hesitant to jump on the bandwagon,  joining the hype surrounding this film. That is until the screening I attended here in LA was about five minutes into the film. Anderson is known for the quirkiness of his films, a style that has been criticized for not always [...]

Movie Review: “MIB3″ – the boys are back

Ten years after we last saw the iconic black shades and suits of the Men in Black, Agents J (Will Smith) and K (Tommy Lee Jones) make their return in the franchise’s third installment, to once again defend the world from threatening extra-terrestrial life form. Yet even with the return of its two main players and director Barry Sonenfeld, and a new top billing of Josh Brolin in the mix,  MiB3 narrowly makes its case for another wacky go-around.

    In the [...]

  • Movie Review: “Lockout” – A new take on the sci-fi flick

Movie Review: “Lockout” – A new take on the sci-fi flick

If you’re in the mood for a laugh out loud, adrenaline pumping action flick, Lockout is the movie to see.  It’s pairing of video game style special effects and entertainingly campy storyline give the movie its light hearted, easy watching appeal. Directed by James Mather and Stephen St. Leger, Lockout is the type of movie that uses its excessive eye rolling to great fun.

When wrongfully accused Snow (Guy Pearce), is convicted with the murder of a top U.S. official, he is offered the chance for freedom [...]
